Q: How are lecturers selected for
the series?
Brandeis faculty and the Getz family work
together to identify lecturers. Brandeis faculty then act
as a liaison and host to invited speakers. Our primary goal
is to select speakers who are conducting important research
on advances in heart disease prevention and treatment and
who are comfortable speaking to a diverse audience that includes
research professionals and the lay public.
Q: Can I submit a topic or speaker
for consideration as an upcoming lecture?
We are always open to suggestions. In fact,
we rely on suggestions from as broad and diverse a community
as possible in order to ensure that the Heart Disease Research
Series is comprehensive, innovative and practical. Please
email us your suggestions at mgetz@illumina-interactive.com
or kenneth.getz@tufts.edu.
Q: Where can I find background material
on topics covered in the lectures?
This web site will post the presentation
materials along with links to relevant background articles
and resources. We also provide links to the many web sites
containing information about heart disease causes, symptoms,
treatment and prevention.
Q: How can I reach the lecturers
to ask them questions about their research?
The best way to reach a lecturer is to attend
their presentation. Every lecturer will provide a question
and answer period for the benefit of people in the audience.
If you are unable to attend a lecture, please email us at
either mgetz@illumina-interactive.com
or kenneth.getz@tufts.edu
and we will forward your messages to the lecturers.
Q: Where are the lectures held and
how do I get there?
The lectures will be held in Gerstenzang
121 at the Gerstenzang Science Library on the Brandeis
University campus. You can reach the campus by car and by
public transportation. Call the Library (781) 736-4728 for
further information.
